You can use other yarns. Follow the hook-size recommendation on the yarn label and consider sizing down 1–2 hook sizes. Changing yarn or hook size will change the finished size and texture.

How to Join the Two Heart Humps

  1. Finish the second hump but do not cut the yarn. Leave it on your hook.
  2. Insert the hook into any stitch of the first hump.
  3. Single crochet into that stitch to join the two pieces and place a marker on this stitch.
  4. Work 8 more SC to the last stitch of the first piece, then SLST.
  5. Begin the second piece with a SLST, then work 9 SC.
  6. Count the completed round to confirm 20 stitches.

How to Attach the Stem

  1. Use your hook to bring the loose yarn from the shorter stem out through the middle of the stem.
  2. Use this yarn to join the two stems, then hook it through the middle of the longer stem.
  3. Bring the yarn back up to the top of the long stem between the two stem pieces.
  4. Pull to tighten, tie off to secure, trim, and hide the loose yarn in the stem using your hook.

How to Attach the Cherries / Hearts to the Stem

  1. Poke your hook through the bottom of the stem and bring the loose yarn from the cherry through it.
  2. Insert the hook from the bottom of the cherry and exit at the top on the opposite side of where the loose yarn begins. Hook the yarn and bring it back through to the bottom.
  3. Bring the yarn back to the top of the cherry. Pull and tighten slightly to create the dimple effect.
  4. Tie off, trim, and hide the loose yarn inside the body.
For the heart: Bring the yarn from the bottom of the heart to the top using your hook before attaching it to the stem.

How to Make Threaded Eyes

The threaded eye uses three points arranged in a < shape.

  1. Starting at the inner point of the eye, insert the hook and exit at the upper outer point. Pull the thread through these two points.
  2. Insert the hook into the inner point again, this time exiting at the lower outer point. Pull the lower part of the thread through.
  3. Tie the two threads together with the knot meeting at the upper outer point. Trim and hide the thread inside the body.

How to Attach Beaded / Safety Eyes

  1. Place the eyes where you want them.
  2. Remove an eye and squeeze a small amount of hot glue into the spot.
  3. Put the eye back in place, press, and secure.
