You can use another yarn if you prefer. Follow the hook recommendation on the yarn label and consider sizing down 1–2 hook sizes. A different yarn or hook size will change the finished size and texture.

BOB — Bobble stitch: 3–5 double crochet before the final yarn over, all in one stitch.

This pattern also uses a magic ring and color changes.

How to Make a Bobble Stitch

  1. Yarn over, insert the hook into the next stitch, then yarn over again.
  2. Pull yarn through the stitch, yarn over, and pull through two loops on your hook.
  3. Repeat into the same stitch two more times until four loops remain on your hook.
  4. Yarn over and pull through all loops on your hook.

Snorlax Ears

Yarn: Country Blue   Hook: 6.0 mm

Stitch directly into the head where the ears go. Begin with the stitch closest to the center at the top of the head. Work from the center toward the outside. For the opposite ear, turn the body upside down so you can work in the same direction.

How to Make the Eyes & Mouth

Prepare about 15 inches of black yarn. The original tutorial uses a crochet hook, but a needle can also be used. Placement may need to be adjusted depending on your finished body. In the example, each eye is about 2 stitches wide and the mouth is about 4 stitches wide.

  1. Start with the right eye. Insert the hook from the right end of the eye to the left end and pull about 5 inches of yarn through.
  2. Insert the hook through the same two points again and pull the shorter right-side strand through to form the first eye line.
  3. Using the longer strand, bring the yarn across to the right end of the left eye.
  4. Insert the hook from the right end to the left end of the left eye and pull the yarn through to create the second eye.
  5. Begin the mouth by bringing the yarn through to the left end of the mouth.
  6. Insert the hook from the right end of the right eye, where the other yarn end is, and exit at the right end of the mouth. Pull the yarn through.
  7. Adjust the tension until the face looks right. Tie the ends together, trim, and hide the loose yarn inside the body.
